I am looking for people over sixteen years of age to take part in my research who have been involved with Reclaim the Night marches anywhere in the UK.
· Have you organised, or helped to organise a march in your area?
· Have you taken part in a march in the UK?
· Would you be willing to take part in an interview to discuss your experiences and opinions? The interview would last one to two hours and be held in a location to suit you.
My name is Finn Mackay, I am a PhD research student from the Centre for Gender & Violence Research at the University of Bristol. I want to put Reclaim the Night on the map! Although there is a lot of research into protests and into the women’s movement in the UK, Reclaim the Night often doesn’t get a mention. I’m interested in what it means to activists today.
Please take part in my research and let me know what you think!
I am hoping to interview several activists from different parts of the country. Although I might not be able to interview everyone, I will try to select interviewees from different areas. I am also compiling a survey so that I can gather as many different views and experiences as possible, the survey will be accessible online soon.
If you would be willing to take part in my research and share your views and experiences of Reclaim the Night in the UK then please get in touch! I am looking for people involved in Reclaim the Night past and present, those involved in the original marches in the 1970s and those involved in the revived marches.
I am particularly looking for any women who were involved in the early Bristol Reclaim the Night marches in 1977 and following years.
If you would like more information about the research and about how your data will be used then please do not hesitate to contact me on finn.mackay.09(at)bristol.ac.uk
Please do not reply all on this list, but contact me directly on finn.mackay.09(at)bristol.ac.uk
